5 Simple Things To Make Life Easier

Life is stressful. It can be hard, so how do you make it easier? Well, let's talk about 5 simple things you can do that will make life easier.

First and one of the more important ones: Budget

Budgeting isn't always fun or exciting, even less so if you're finances don't look so great. But budgeting is so important. It gives you back the control you need to take back your life. It's the foundation for being able to live. I'm not saying money is everything or the key to happiness, but it's a necessity if you want to be a part of this world we live in.

There are millions of budgeting tools out there, but one of the more simple ones is built right into Microsoft Excel. It's called Simple Monthly Budget and you can search for it in the Excel Templates section.

Number 2: Limit Social Media

I've talked about this in some of our other blogs already, but over exposing yourself to social media can and is harmful to your happiness. It's like that annoying coworker who always has to share with you all these amazing things they're doing with their life and how wonderful everything always is for them. How is that healthy? It isn't. So trim it out a little. I'm not saying to completely disconnect from it all, but the more you cut out the highlight reel the better your own life will be. Not everything needs to be posted about either. The whole world doesn't need to know that you took a shower and then ate a bagel at the corner coffee shop. It's good to just soak in the moment and enjoy that cup of joe and your bagel without the distraction of juggling your phone between bites.

Number 3: Being intentional with your time

Time is a limited commodity. It's the only thing in life that's truly finite. In my video we talk about an exercise that helps you see how you're using your time. Create a list of everything you'd like to do. Then create a list of everything you've done that week. Now compare the lists. How many of the items on the list of things you'd like to do did you actually get to do this week? It's easy for life to get in the way of what we enjoy doing. Work, events, family, friends, errands, chores, all have their own level of importance, but you still need to make time for you. If some of those things made it on your list of things you'd like to do then awesome! Keep doing them. But if not, think about how you can add something you enjoy into your life. Maybe you binge watch Netflix instead of going to a park or exploring a new brewery or coffee shop. Make a point to change that. Go out and explore, find something new, do what you love instead of Netflix and chilling by yourself (or your dog). It's easy to fall into the same routines, try to change them up. You'd be surprised how much happier and more fulfilled you'll feel.

Number 4: Learn to say "No"

It's okay to not want to do something. It's okay to not want to go out and socialize after a long week, even if you're friends are begging you. If you're honest about it with them and tell them politely that you're tired and really would rather just have a night in, they will understand. It doesn't make you a bad person. Practice being honest with you're friends and yourself and it'll get easier and easier to filter out all the stuff you really would rather not do. This also helps free up some more time for you to do the things that you want to!

Number 5: Minimalize your space

You don't need to be sitting on a single chair in an empty room to be a minimalist. You don't even need to get rid of everything. You just need to clear out the clutter. Get rid of old clothes you don't wear or haven't fit in since high school. Note: If you still have clothes from high school you're hoping to fit back into one day, keep working towards that goal, but ditch the clothes. They're probably not in style anymore anyways.

When you clear out your home and life of all the unneccissary "filler" things just become simpler. It means less time spent cleaning or organizing. It allows you to breathe easier without feeling overwhelmed or claustrophobic.

These 5 little things can make life so much easier and easier to manage. Give it a shot and let me know how it's helped you! If you have other helpful hints let us know in the comments below!
